Our 5th storytime of the summer session was all about Butterflies<\/strong>!\u00a0 We actually spent quite a bit of time playing hide and seek with some\u00a0missing butterflies.\u00a0 Here are\u00a0the books,\u00a0songs, rhymes, flannel stories and activities we shared.<\/p>\n

Books We Shared<\/h4>\n

In Butterfly Butterfly<\/span><\/a> by Petr Horacek, a young girl named Lucy\u00a0encounters\u00a0a beautiful butterfly\u00a0in her garden.\u00a0 The next day she comes out to see her butterfly but she can’t find it anywhere!\u00a0 While she’s looking she runs into a\u00a0pink earthworm, a brown spider, a red ladybird and many more creatures.\u00a0When she finally gives up her search and lies down on the grass,\u00a0the beautiful butterfly\u00a0reappears in all of it’s 3-D glory!<\/p>\n

Emma Parrish’s Flutterby Butterfly<\/span><\/a> is a bit like hide and seek.\u00a0 We are looking for a butterfly named Flutterby but we end up finding a tortoise, a snail, a scarecrow…everything BUT\u00a0our butterfly.\u00a0 No surprise that\u00a0Flutterby\u00a0waits until the final page to pop up for us!\u00a0 A colorful, fun board book that has the element of guessing, identification and surprise.\u00a0 Perfect for infants and toddlers.<\/p>\n
