Our third storytime of the summer session\u00a0was all about Bears<\/em><\/strong>!\u00a0 Here\u00a0are the books, songs, rhymes, bounces and flannel stories we shared for our storytime on Bears<\/em><\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Books We Shared<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"<\/a>\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In Nancy Tafuri’s book,\u00a0Mama’s Little Bears<\/a>, we are introduced to Mama Bear and her three baby bears.\u00a0 They are all out fishing on a spring day until\u00a0the three baby\u00a0bears run off to explore!\u00a0 They wonder what’s over the hill, what’s under the rock, what’s in the cave, what’s down in the log and what’s up in the\u00a0tree.\u00a0 They find all sorts of creatures but they don’t scurry away until they disturb a\u00a0family of owls.\u00a0 As they hurry down the tree, they look for their Mama but can’t see her!\u00a0\u00a0Where is she?\u00a0\u00a0A sweet story about the need for babies to explore on their own but only if Mama is within eyesight.\u00a0\u00a0Clear, bold illustrations and simple text make this the perfect book for infants and toddlers.<\/p>\n

Bill Martin’s classic picture book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?<\/a>\u00a0 has a wonderful cadence, teaches colors and\u00a0animal identification\u00a0& gives children an opportunity to practice animal sounds.\u00a0\u00a0To change things up a bit, we shared a flannel version of the book.\u00a0 Most babies can see colors fairly well by five months but I often like to accompany a picture book story with\u00a0large, bright flannel pieces.\u00a0 This makes it easier for babies (particularly the\u00a0tiniest of the group)\u00a0to identify shapes and colors.<\/p>\n
