It was all about magic today!\u00a0 We read\u00a0stories about\u00a0“magical” animals and friendship.\u00a0\u00a0We also made ten\u00a0butterflies appear AND made five bunnies disappear.\u00a0 All in an hour’s fun at preschool storytime.\u00a0 Here is a summary of what we shared!<\/p>\n

Books We Shared<\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Foxy<\/strong><\/a> by Emma Dodd\u00a0is all about a little girl and her pet fox named\u00a0Foxy.\u00a0\u00a0Emily is worried that she won’t have everything she needs for her first day of school and her friend\u00a0Foxy comes to the rescue with his magic tail!\u00a0 Foxy gets it right some of the time but he also makes\u00a0major mistakes…(an elephant<\/em> appears instead of an eraser)<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0In spite of these\u00a0magical mishaps, Foxy\u00a0is able to reassure Emily when she admits that she is afraid she won’t make any friends.\u00a0\u00a0A funny story that gets to the heart of\u00a0a child’s fears about the first day of school.<\/p>\n

Richard Jesse Watson’s book, Magic Rabbit \u00a0<\/strong><\/a>is also about\u00a0the “magic” of friendship.\u00a0 We are introduced to a magic rabbit who hops out of a hat.\u00a0 He can perform\u00a0all kinds of magic tricks with his hat – he can make balls,\u00a0scarves, cars and even lunch with his favorite foods appear.\u00a0 But one thing is missing – a friend to share it with.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Eventually Magic Rabbit does discover a friend but not until he’s made a few creatures “magically” appear that jump, scurry and fly away.\u00a0 Finally, he finds a hat within his hat and guess who he finds there?\u00a0 I won’t give it away.\u00a0 A great read aloud with vivid images and a nice lesson about friendship.<\/p>\n

\nHoping spring would get here soon (cross your fingers)
\nWith a little bit of magic (flutter your fingers up and down)
\nAnd some warm sunshine\u00a0(make a circle\u00a0with your arms above your head)
\nCLAP, CLAP, CLAP for a butterfly\u00a0(clap three times & pull out a butterfly)
\nKeep clapping until all 10 butterflies are\u00a0out and placed on your\u00a0flannel board.

Five Magic Rabbits<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five magic rabbits in a tall black hat,

A rabbit disappeared!<\/p>\n

Repeat until all of the rabbits have disappeared.

\nwent up the water spout.\u00a0\u00a0 (\u201cwalk\u201d your fingers up thumb to forefinger, alternating.)<\/em>
\nDown came the rain and (wiggle fingers and bring then downward)<\/em>
\nWashed the spider out. (make baseball \u201csafe\u201d motion)<\/em>
\nOut came the sun and (hands above head in a circle)<\/em>
\nand dried up all the rain. (hands out at side of body)<\/em>
