With our first Toddler Storytime of the Winter 2017 session, we all said Hello! to one another and Hello! during all the stories we read. \u00a0It was a great way to kick off what is sure to be a wonderful ten weeks.<\/p>\n

Books We Shared
\n<\/a>\u00a0<\/a><\/h4>\n

There are lots of different ways to say Hello, and we started our storytime\u00a0learning all about how different animals say it with the book\u00a0Say Hello Like This!<\/span> by Mary Murphy<\/a>. \u00a0With fun small pages that flip over, this is a great story for practicing all types of animal sounds!<\/p>\n

After learning all about how animals say hello, it made sense to take a trip around the world and learn the different ways people say hello, too! \u00a0So that’s exactly what we did with the help of our second book How Hippo Says Hello!<\/span> by Abigail Samoun, illustrated by Sarah Watts<\/a>. \u00a0In fact, we practiced our Hellos in eight different languages!<\/p>\n

\nIdea take from Sunflower Storytime<\/a>, who found it at storytime katie<\/a>. The bear and bird puppets are from ArtFelt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This is a fun guessing game. \u00a0First, hide 3 friends under three different color houses. \u00a0Then sing the song:<\/p>\n

(to the tune of \u201cDo You Know the Muffin Man?\u201d<\/em>)
\nCan we find the brown bear
\nbrown bear, brown bear?
\nCan we find the brown bear?
\nWe want to say \u201cHello\u201d!<\/p>\n

Have your child pick a color house and see if that friend is underneath! \u00a0Then look for other friends in the other houses. \u00a0We played this with a brown bear, a red bird, and a gray mouse.<\/p>\n
