During our December 12th toddler storytimes, we read about winter and snow.\u00a0 Brrrr\u2026it was cold!\u00a0 Below are some of the stories, songs and activities we explored.<\/p>\n

Books<\/h4>\n

\"brownie-and-pearl-see-the-sights\"<\/a> \"mouses-first-snow\"\"oh-what-a-surprise\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We read Mouse\u2019s First Snow\u00a0<\/u><\/a>by Lauren Thompson.\u00a0\u00a0 In this book, Mouse follows his Poppa as they\u00a0explore sledding, ice skating, making snow angels & building a snow house\u00a0AND a snow mouse!\u00a0 All kinds of mouse fun in the snow!\u00a0 For our second story, we shared Cynthia Rylant\u2019s Brownie & Pearl See the Sights<\/u><\/a>.\u00a0 Brownie is a young girl whose best friend is a cat named Pearl.\u00a0 Brownie & Pearl are always together and one snowy day they decide to take in the sights of the city.\u00a0 But where to go first?\u00a0 A hat shop, of course!\u00a0 Then off to a shoe shop and a cupcake shop and finally back home \u201cbecause sights are good, but home is better.\u201d\u00a0 Bold, bright illustrations and simple text make this perfect for toddlers.\u00a0\u00a0In Oh What a Surprise!<\/a> by Suzanne Bloom, we see Fox impatiently\u00a0awaiting his very own surprise gift from Bear.\u00a0 Can Fox hang on until the very end of the story?\u00a0 Barely!\u00a0 A sweet story about anticipation, waiting and the spirit of giving.<\/p>\n

(Repeat with four, three, two, one until none\u00a0are left)<\/p>\n

THEN<\/p>\n

Five hats are all around<\/p>\n

No snowmen to be found<\/p>\n

But have no fear<\/p>\n

The sun will disappear (cover sun with cloud)<\/p>\n

And the snowmen will come back! (bring snowmen back)<\/p>\n
