\u00a0On November 1st, we read\u00a0books about mice.\u00a0 We watched a cat and mouse play “cat & mouse”, <\/em>we read about a mouse who was “nobody’s mouse” AND we followed a mouse to his\u00a0patch.\u00a0 Below are\u00a0the books, songs &\u00a0activities we shared.<\/p>\n

During our infant storytime, we read Cat & Mouse<\/span><\/a> <\/span>by Ian\u00a0Schoenherr.\u00a0 In this fun\u00a0tale, Mouse runs up the clock to get away from Cat to the tune of Hickory Dickory Dock.\u00a0 <\/em>Then the\u00a0tables are turned as Mouse taunts\u00a0Cat with a little Eenie Meenie Miney Mo…Catch a Tiger by it’s Toe<\/em>!\u00a0 This is a great book for infants – the illustrations are bold and colorful and the cat and\u00a0mouse chase each other to the tune of some classic nursery rhymes.\u00a0\u00a0We also shared a board book by Sarah Gillingham\u00a0titled In My Patch<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0 We see a mouse going through his day, scurrying through autumn leaves, nibbling seeds and finally making it home to his patch where his family is waiting for him.\u00a0 A great board book for a lap sit storytime at home or in the library.<\/p>\n

During toddler storytime, we shared the book Whose Mouse are You?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/a>by Robert Kraus.\u00a0\u00a0In this classic story, we meet a mouse who is “nobody’s mouse – his mother is inside the cat, his father is caught in a trap, his sister is far from home and his brother, well he doesn’t have a brother.\u00a0 What starts out as a sad tale ends well as Mouse saves his mother and father,\u00a0 finds his sister\u00a0and discovers that he has a NEW baby brother.\u00a0 Clean, clear illustrations and mouse’s emotional journey make for an engaging tale.\u00a0 Since the kiddos were a little squirrely after the Halloween festivities, we settled on In My Patch<\/span> <\/span><\/a>for our second book.\u00a0 It works for both infants and toddlers.<\/p>\n
