Last Tuesday we read books about playing and pretending for our Infant and Toddler Storytimes.\u00a0\u00a0Here are some of the\u00a0stories and activities we shared about our theme!<\/span><\/p>\n

Stories<\/strong><\/h2>\n

During our infant storytime, we read Meeow and the Little Chairs<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 In Sebastian Braun’s story, Meeow and her friends use their colorful chairs to create a train!\u00a0 It is pretend play at it’s finest.\u00a0 We also shared a board book by Carol Thompson titled One, Two, Three Jump!<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0 What better way for baby to play?\u00a0 There were\u00a0all sorts of jumps in this book – little jumps, bed jumps and even kangaroo jumps!<\/p>\n

During toddler storytime, we shared the book Joey and Jet <\/span><\/a>by James Yang.\u00a0 Joey’s dog Jet is always ready to play fetch but he sure gets worn out chasing that ball among birds, through trees, on the water…well, you get the picture.\u00a0 Jet goes through quite a few\u00a0hoops to get that ball back to Joey only to start all over again!!\u00a0 We also read Not a Stick<\/span> <\/a><\/span>by Antoinette Portis.\u00a0 I tried to make the book come alive\u00a0by using some props.\u00a0\u00a0Remember we had\u00a0a stick, but\u00a0the stick wasn’t really a stick!\u00a0 I pulled a\u00a0fishing pole, a bandleader’s baton, a horse (actually not the horse) \u00a0and even a sword out of a big blue box!\u00a0We talked about the\u00a0things a stick can become when you play pretend!<\/p>\n

Three little kites, watch how they soar,<\/p>\n

Along came another and then there were four!<\/p>\n

Four little kites, so high and alive,<\/p>\n

Along came another and then there were five.<\/p>\n

Five little kites dancing cross the sky,<\/p>\n

What a sight to see, way up high!<\/p>\n
