In honor of summer and outdoor play, today we read books about going outside and getting dirty! We started with a beautiful new book called Bringing the Outside In<\/a><\/em> by Mary McKenna Siddals and illustrated by Patrice Barton. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Then we did a flannelboard story about five clean and squeaky pigs who each get dirty and need a bath! <\/p>\n

Sing it to \u201cFive Green and Speckled Frogs\u201d<\/p>\n

Five pigs so squeaky clean
\nCleanest you\u2019ve ever seen
\nWanted to go outside and play
\nOink! Oink!
\nOne jumped into the mud
\nLanded with a big thud
\nThen there were four clean squeaky pigs.<\/p>\n

We continued on our piggies track by reading Hogwash<\/a><\/em>, written by Karma Wilson and illustrated by Jim McMullan. It’s a fun rhyming read!<\/p>\n

I converted another great rhyming book into a flannel story–Little Blue Truck<\/a><\/em> by Alice Schertle and Jill McElmurry:<\/p>\n

We sang and danced to “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and then read Sam and Dave Dig a Hole<\/a><\/em> by Mac Barnett, a book with many surprising turns!<\/p>\n

Our video for today didn’t work out unfortunately. The disc was skipping. But we tried to finish things on a happy note with the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands!” <\/p>\n
