February 23, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">We read books about gardens and watched some flowers grow!\u00a0 Everyone had a great time!\u00a0 Let&#8217;s take a look at some of the stories &amp; activities we shared:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2016\/02\/zinnias-flower-garden.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5300\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5300 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2016\/02\/zinnias-flower-garden-300x250.jpg\" alt=\"zinnia's flower garden\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2016\/02\/zinnias-flower-garden-300x250.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2016\/02\/zinnias-flower-garden.jpg 318w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We stretched and read a book that was longer and a bit more complex during our toddler storytime today &#8211; <strong><em>Zinnia&#8217;s Flower Garden<\/em> <\/strong>by Monica Wellington.\u00a0 I am proud of how well the toddlers listened and remained engaged, even though there were more words per page.\u00a0 The main character, Zinnia is actually a young gardener.\u00a0 We watch her plant seeds, water them, tend to the soil and nurture their growth into plants.\u00a0 Her efforts pay off when she sees small green buds appear&#8230;then a few weeks later, the first flower blooms&#8230;a bit after that, the entire garden is awash with flowers.\u00a0 Informational tidbits about what plants need to grow and thrive are peppered throughout the story.\u00a0 The visuals are bright and colorful and the text is clear and easy to read.\u00a0 Actually a big hit with the group!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>OUR FLANNEL BOARD:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"body_copy_gray\" align=\"center\"><strong>There\u2019s Something in My Garden <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[Artfelt has a <a href=\"http:\/\/artfelt.net\/warehouse\/detail.htm?ProductID=416\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #999999\">There\u2019s Something in My Garden<\/span><\/a> felt puppet set. Add as many animals as you want and the rhyming fun continues.
