First Book:<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We read a special slide-and-seek book by Emma Parrish which was a big hit.\u00a0 Each page asks, \u201cWhere is Flutterby Butterfly?\u201d\u00a0 This leads us on a search for our special butterfly as we move through a bird\u2019s nest, flowers, a beehive, a spider\u2019s web and more.\u00a0 It is only on the very last page that we find our butterfly.\u00a0 Colorful, interactive and suspenseful (from a baby\u2019s perspective, of course), this board book is a good choice for an infant or toddler storytime.<\/p>\n

A White Butterfly<\/strong> by Laurie Cohen and Barbara Ortell, is a board book filled with artistic renderings of butterflies in different colors.\u00a0\u00a0 They are as blue as the sea<\/em>, as red as a strawberry<\/em>, and even as black as the night<\/em>. Ultimately, the book ends with a white butterfly, which turns into all the colors of the rainbow when a drop of rain hits one of it’s wings…<\/p>\n

So I put him in a box, I did!<\/p>\n

Don’t you crawl away, I said.<\/p>\n

But the next time I opened the lid,<\/p>\n

Out flew a butterfly instead!<\/p>\n

WE even made some butterflies appear with a special rhyme!<\/p>\n

Five Little Caterpillars…<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Five little caterpillars spinning their cocoons, (roll hands)<\/p>\n

Hoping that spring would be here soon, (cross fingers)<\/p>\n

With a little bit of magic (flutter fingers in air)<\/p>\n

And some warm sunshine…<\/p>\n

Clap, clap, clap for a butterfly (clap hands three times and pull butterfly out of basket)<\/p>\n
