Tuesday, December 15th was our last storytime for the Fall Session. \u00a0In anticipation of the holidays, we did\u00a0stories and songs about toys. \u00a0First everybody got a shaker egg and we sang our opening song “Clap Everybody and Say Hello.” \u00a0We did the song Open Shut Them<\/a> and\u00a0read the book Mimi and Bear in the Snow<\/a>\u00a0by Janee Trasler. \u00a0It’s a simple, sweet book about a little bunny named Mimi who is looking for the bear she lost while playing in the snow.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We sang a song about toys:<\/p>\n

Fire truck, fire truck, roll on the ground (touch\u00a0ground)<\/p>\n

Princess, princess, come get crowned (touch head)<\/p>\n

Airplane, airplane, take off and fly (make airplane\u00a0arms out to sides)<\/p>\n

Baby doll, baby doll, start to cry (rub eyes)<\/p>\n

Rattle, rattle, make some noise (shake or wiggle)<\/p>\n

Oh how much I love my toys! (give yourself a hug)<\/p>\n

We made a pattern with our truck felt pieces,<\/p>\n

My dolly can dance side to side\u2026<\/p>\n

My dolly can dance up and down\u2026<\/p>\n

My dolly can dance sitting on the ground\u2026<\/p>\n

We sang Shake My Sillies Out by Raffi and shook our shaker eggs. \u00a0Then we read a new board book by Leslie Patricelli, one of my favorite authors for infants and toddlers. \u00a0It’s called Play Nice, Hercules!<\/a> and it’s about a toddler who smashes his sister’s block tower\u00a0and then repents what he did.<\/p>\n

We sang a song about Santa’s sleigh, to the tune of “The Wheels on the Bus”:<\/p>\n

The reindeer on the sleigh go clop, clop, clop…<\/p>\n

The bells on the sleigh go ring, ring ring…<\/p>\n

The blades on the sleigh go whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…<\/p>\n

The toys on the sleigh go up and down…<\/p>\n

The Santa on the sleigh says Ho, Ho, Ho…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Our video for the day was Knuffle Bunny, based on the book <\/a>by Mo Willems. \u00a0You can check out the DVD <\/a>too from the Pasadena library.<\/p>\n

I loved doing storytime with you and your adorable toddlers. \u00a0I want to remind everyone that our next registration day will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016. \u00a0If you’re a Pasadena resident (make sure your ID or a piece of mail can prove that) you are encouraged to come early on the 5th so that you can get in line to take advantage of Priority Registration from 9-11. \u00a0Open Registration starts at 11 am and phone registration starts at noon. \u00a0The first day of the session will be the following Tuesday.<\/p>\n
