{"id":4607,"date":"2015-11-17T20:40:40","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T20:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/?p=4607"},"modified":"2016-12-06T19:15:52","modified_gmt":"2016-12-07T03:15:52","slug":"infant-storytime-bathtime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/2015\/infant-storytime-bathtime\/","title":{"rendered":"Infant Storytime: Bathtime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s Infant Storytime was full of bathtime fun!\u00a0 We sang our opening song, &#8220;Clap Everybody and Say Hello.&#8221;\u00a0 Then everybody got a scarf, and we did our songs <a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/2015\/infant-storytime-dressing-up\/\" target=\"_blank\">One Bright Scarf<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/2015\/infant-storytime-dressing-up\/\" target=\"_blank\">Peekaboo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then we read a cute book about a small elephant who does NOT like bathtime, and how his parents eventually get him to try it.\u00a0 It&#8217;s called <a href=\"http:\/\/pgpl-mt.iii.com\/iii\/encore_pasadena\/record\/C__Rb1551710__Statyana%20feeney__Orightresult__X4?lang=eng&amp;suite=pasadena\" target=\"_blank\">Small Elephant&#8217;s Bathtime<\/a> by Tatyana Feeney.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/ecx.images-amazon.com\/images\/I\/51oWm5BoPKL._SY497_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"376\" height=\"375\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We used our scarves to sing about taking a bath:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This is the way we wash our hands, wash our hands, wash our hands<\/p>\n<p>This is the way we wash our hands when we get all dirty.<\/p>\n<p>This is the way we scrub our face&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This is the way we rub our ears&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This is the way we rinse our hair&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This is the way we sponge our tummies&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Then we did a flannel story about five little piggies in the bathtub:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/11\/five-little-piggies.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4608\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/11\/five-little-piggies-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"five little piggies\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/11\/five-little-piggies-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/11\/five-little-piggies.jpg 778w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>One little piggy was taking a bath<\/p>\n<p>The water was splashing and the bubbles were rising<\/p>\n<p>That another little piggy came to join the\u00a0fun.<\/p>\n<p>Now two little piggies were taking a bath<\/p>\n<p>The water was splashing and the bubbles were rising&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>(keep going\u00a0up to five)<\/p>\n<p>Five little piggies were taking a bath.<\/p>\n<p>The bathtub is full.\u00a0 The piggies are clean.<\/p>\n<p>And the slippery little piggies get out of the bath.<\/p>\n<p>(count down from five to one)<\/p>\n<p>But the first one stayed.\u00a0 Now he has the bathtub all to himself!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We sang a bounce to the tune of &#8220;Bumpin&#8217; Up and Down in my Little Red Wagon&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bouncing up and down in my little white bathtub<\/p>\n<p>Bouncing up and down in my little white bathtub<\/p>\n<p>Bouncing up and down in my little white bathtub<\/p>\n<p>Splishy, splashy, splishy, splashy splash!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We tickled our babies and sang &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/2015\/infant-storytime-trucks\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hurry, Scurry Little Mouse<\/a>.&#8221; Then we sang This Little Piggy, wiggling our babies&#8217; toes or fingers for each &#8220;piggy&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This little piggy went to market<\/p>\n<p>and this little piggy stayed home<\/p>\n<p>This little piggy had roast beef<\/p>\n<p>and this little piggy had none<\/p>\n<p>And this little piggy cried,<\/p>\n<p>Weeee weeee weeee weeee<\/p>\n<p>All the way home!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Then I put on the\u00a0Bubbles song with my CD, and\u00a0had every intention of having all the babies enrapt by the beauty of air-filled soap droplets floating around them&#8230; Except that my bubble machine didn&#8217;t work.\u00a0 It worked long enough to test it this morning and that was all.\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to look for something better!\u00a0 Anyway, everybody was great sports about it and clapped along to the song.<\/p>\n<p>We read another book, called <a href=\"http:\/\/pgpl-mt.iii.com\/iii\/encore_pasadena\/record\/C__Rb1570203__SGet%20Out%20of%20My%20Bath__Orightresult__U__X6?lang=eng&amp;suite=pasadena\" target=\"_blank\">Get Out of My Bath<\/a> by Britta Teckentrup.\u00a0 Also about an elephant in the bathtub, how funny!\u00a0 This book uses a shiny, slick kind of paint for the water and invites kids to help the elephant make &#8220;waves&#8221;
