Books We Shared<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\"\"\u00a0<\/a>\"\"<\/a>
\nThe Bus is for Us!<\/span>\u00a0by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Gillian Tyler<\/a> is a new book, and as soon as I saw it I knew it would be great for infant toddler storytime. \u00a0It discusses many different types of travel, but celebrates that “the bus is the best, the bus is for us!” \u00a0This was such a fun book that we used it as our first book for both our infant and toddler storytimes.<\/p>\n

For our second story in infant storytime we read another recent book\u00a0My Bus<\/span> by Byron Barton<\/a>. \u00a0We met bus driver Joe and followed him as he dropped of his dog and cat passengers all over town. \u00a0Like many of Barton’s other transportation books (My Car<\/a>, Boats<\/a>, and more\u00a0),\u00a0My Bus<\/span> is brightly colored and perfect for tiny one’s attention spans.<\/p>\n

Toddlers got a taste of the school bus in our second book for them: The Bus Stop by Janet Morgan Stoek<\/a>e. \u00a0While this looks at many children traveling on the bus for their first day at school, all kids can rejoice in the fun newness of taking a different method of transportation for the first time.<\/p>\n

Flannelboard Story<\/h2>\n

While last week we sang a variation, this week we shared the classic song “The Wheels on the Bus” using the flannelboard.<\/p>\n

The Wheels on the Bus<\/span>

The wheels on the bus go round and round,\u00a0(roll arms in front of body, fist over fist)<\/em>
\nRound and round, round and round.
\nThe wheels on the bus go round and round,

\nThe horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep\u2026\u00a0(pretend to be pushing on a horn)<\/em>
\nThe windows on the bus go up and down\u2026\u00a0(palms toward you, hands horizontal, move apart, then together)<\/em>
\nThe babies on the bus go waa, waa, waa\u2026\u00a0(fists up to eyes and twist)<\/em>
\nThe parents on the bus go shh, shh, shh\u2026\u00a0(finger in front of lips)<\/em><\/p>\n

Nursery Rhyme we Shared in Infant Storytime<\/h2>\n

For our Nursery Rhyme flannelboard we\u00a0learned the perils of sitting too close to the edge of a wall.<\/p>\n

Humpty Dumpty
\n<\/a>\"Humpty<\/a>\u00a0\"Humpty<\/a>
\nHumpty Dumpty sat on a wall
\nHumpty Dumpty had a great fall
\nAll the King\u2019s horses
\nAnd all the King\u2019s men

Pigeon really wants to drive the bus. \u00a0But the Bus Driver is counting on YOU to keep it from happening.<\/p>\n
