This piece depicts the ideal American dream in lovely colors–soft and positive.\u00a0 It\u2019s what America could be:\u00a0 a safe haven, land of opportunities and acceptance.\u00a0 This is what people (and the characters in The Book of Unknown Americans<\/em>) hope for when they came to America.\u00a0 It is also the subject of many of the stories from the Writing Contest.\u00a0 In contrast to Nicole Kwan\u2019s \u201cFreedom<\/a>\u201d and even Caeden Becker\u2019s \u201cUnited Under One Nation, We Stand Together\u201d<\/a>, the people in this image all look the same and are presumably free and happy.<\/p>\n
