\nToday’s Infant Storytime was all about the ocean. We made an ocean scene with jellyfish, kelp, starfish, swimming fishes and a crab:\n<\/p>\n

\nWe read a sweet book by Scott Magoon titled Breathe<\/em><\/a>. The pictures of the little beluga whale swimming through the ocean and all around his arctic environment are so lovely–I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one!\n<\/p>\n

\"Breathe\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\nThen we sang “My Bonnie lies over the ocean” and lifted our babies to every “B” word in the song:\n<\/p>\n

My Bonnie lies over the ocean,
\nMy Bonnie lies over the sea,
\nMy Bonnie lies over the ocean,
\nSo bring back my Bonnie to me.
\nBring back, bring back,
\nOh bring back my Bonnie to me, to me,
\nBring back, bring back,
\nOh bring back my Bonnie to me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nWe sang a song to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot” about a little fishie:\n<\/p>\n

I’m a little fishie, watch me swim
\nHere is my tail and here is my fin
\nWhen I want to have fun with my friends
\nI wiggle my tail and dive right in!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nWe counted down from five to one with a story about Five little fishies who tease a shark (much like the five little monkeys who tease Mr. Crocodile).\n<\/p>\n

\nThen we read the book Fabulous Fishes<\/em><\/a> by Susan Stockdale. It’s a good introduction for little ones to all kinds of ocean life.\n<\/p>\n

\nWe sang a song to the tune of “Old MacDonald,” called “Mr. Lobster and Mrs. Crab”:\n<\/p>\n

Mr. Lobster and Mrs. Crab pinch and snap all day
\nThey pinch at fish and they pinch at shrimps
\nPinch and snap all day
\nWith a pinch pinch here, and a snap snap there,
\nHere a pinch, there a snap, everywhere a pinch, snap
\nMr. Lobster and Mrs. Crab pinch and snap all day<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nWe told a story using the flannelboard about a slippery fish who gets eaten by another fish who gets eaten by another, and so on… illustrating the ocean food chain:\n<\/p>\n
