{"id":2145,"date":"2014-11-19T01:23:23","date_gmt":"2014-11-19T01:23:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/?p=2145"},"modified":"2014-11-19T01:30:22","modified_gmt":"2014-11-19T01:30:22","slug":"toddler-storytime-going-to-the-city-november-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/2014\/toddler-storytime-going-to-the-city-november-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Toddler Storytime &#8211; Going to the City! &#8211; November 18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well we went to the City for toddler storytime today!\u00a0 Miss Jennifer was on vacation so I (Miss Marie), got to take a trip with her storytime toddlers!\u00a0 First we explored the sites with\u00a0Maisy!<\/p>\n<p>In Lucy Cousin&#8217;s colorful book, &#8220;Maisy Goes to the City&#8221;, we followed Maisy and her friends as they walked through busy streets, visited a toy store, went to the playground, rode the subway\u00a0and ate pizza at an outdoor caf\u00e9!\u00a0 Whew!\u00a0 Our fantastic journey ended in the evening with a sky full of twinkling stars (we just had to end our story by singing\u00a0Twinkle Twinkle Little Star).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img2.imagesbn.com\/p\/9780763668341_p0_v2_s260x420.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"217\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you live in Los Angeles it is pretty difficult to get around the City without a car (not impossible, but not easy).\u00a0 So, we read &#8220;My Car&#8221; by Bryon Barton.\u00a0 In this story,\u00a0we meet Sam who introduces us to his red car.\u00a0 We learn about the different parts of the car (wheels, body, engine, etc.) and we see that it requires oil and gas to run properly.\u00a0 We also see Sam driving to work; the irony is he gets out of his\u00a0CAR and into his BUS!!\u00a0 Sam is a bus driver!\u00a0\u00a0A charming, colorful\u00a0story that draws toddlers in with it&#8217;s simplicity and alluring illustrations.\u00a0 It is hard not to get drawn into this book\u00a0as Sam\u00a0gives us a glimpse into his world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img1.imagesbn.com\/p\/9780060560454_p0_v1_s260x420.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"260\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Flannel Board Activities:<\/p>\n<p>Traffic Light<\/p>\n<p>Green says, &#8220;Go!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Go! Go! Go! (march fast in place)<\/p>\n<p>Yellow says, &#8220;Slow&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Slow&#8230;slow&#8230;slow&#8230;(march slowly in place)<\/p>\n<p>And Red says, :STOP!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stop! Stop! Stop! (freeze stop)<\/p>\n<p>GO! GO! GO! (march fast)<\/p>\n<p>Slow&#8230;slow&#8230;slow,,, (march slowly)<\/p>\n<p>STOP!!!
