Since we started this infant toddler storytime session with cats, it seemed only fitting to follow it up with stories about mice!<\/p>\n

Books We Shared<\/h2>\n

\nThe way the mouse in Lunch<\/span> by Denise Fleming<\/a> eats his meal may remind you of a favorite little one in your life — he’s not exactly neat! \u00a0 But he does have a big appetite, and manages to much his way through all the colors of the rainbow. \u00a0In Keiko Kasza’s\u00a0When the Elephant Walks<\/span><\/a>\u00a0the elephant begins a chain reaction when he scares a bear who scares a crocodile, who scares… well you get the picture. \u00a0But who\u00a0would be afraid of a\u00a0mouse? \u00a0The answer may surprise you! \u00a0And while the text is simple, the illustrations, especially the animal’s facial expressions, are great in this book.<\/p>\n

During toddler storytime we learned from our first book, Mice<\/span> by Rose Fyleman<\/a>, illustrated by Lois Ehlert,\u00a0that many do not think highly of mice. \u00a0Well, many except the narrator of the story — can you guess who that may be? \u00a0This book is also wonderful to share with your toddler to talk about all the wonderful things that are featured in Ehlert’s illustrations — all labeled. \u00a0Pouring over the illustrations with your child and talking about what you see is a great way to increase your child’s vocabulary. \u00a0Next, we read Thank You Bear<\/span> by Greg Foley<\/a>. \u00a0Bear has found a box he thinks is wonderful — and he thinks mouse will like it. \u00a0But on his way to find mouse, he finds that not all his friends agree. \u00a0What will Mouse think? \u00a0Find out in this charming book.<\/p>\n
