We read about bears during Infant Storytime this week.\u00a0 We met Ted E. Bear, sang songs, shared nursery rhymes and had fun with some bounces.<\/p>\n

We also learned that the word Bear begins with the letter B and we discovered a few other things that begin with the letter B:\u00a0 Bunny, Baby, Bird and Boy!<\/p>\n

Fun FACT:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Imitating animal noises is a great way for toddlers to practice making language sounds and developing sound meaning.\u00a0Animal sounds also help children hear the smaller sounds in words, which is good for when they are starting to sound out words to read.\u00a0 If your child is bilingual, make the animal sounds in your language and talk about how they are or aren\u2019t different in English.\u00a0 Cedar Mill & Bethany Community Libraries<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In John Butler’s Can You Growl Like a Bear? <\/strong><\/em>we got to make some animal sounds.\u00a0 We growled like bears, chattered like monkeys clicked like a dolphin, buzzed like a honeybee and more.<\/p>\n

We shared Bill Martin’s classic book Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You See?<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and used accompanying flannel pieces to make the story come alive.\u00a0 The book is cumulative with each animal seeing the next animal until we get to the goldfish who sees all of the children in storytime!<\/p>\n
