The more words your baby hears over time, the more words they learn.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerotothree.org\/resources\/1833-read-early-and-often\">Zero to Three<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1301790__Shooray%20for%20fish__Orightresult__U__X7?lang=eng&amp;suite=pasadena\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15512 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/Hooray-for-Fish.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"260\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>We started with a book by Lucy Cousins titled:\u00a0<em><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1301790__Shooray%20for%20fish__Orightresult__U__X7?lang=eng&amp;suite=pasadena\">Hooray for Fish!<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 If you read the blog post about our storytime on Birds, you\u2019ll know that she has a similar book titled:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1625549__Shooray%20for%20birds__P0%2C1__Orightresult__U__X7?lang=eng&amp;suite=pasadena\">\u00a0<em><strong>Hooray for Birds!<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/a> Both are colorful, bold, bright and full of directional concepts like up and down, round and round and upside down.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll also find opportunities to talk about counting, shapes, movement &#8211; a whole host of things that offer teachable moments.\u00a0 These books are great for infants and toddlers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1620730__Sone%20lonely%20fish__Orightresult__U__X7?lang=e\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15526 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/one-lonely-fish-300x261.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/one-lonely-fish-300x261.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/one-lonely-fish.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1620730__Sone%20lonely%20fish__Orightresult__U__X7?lang=e\"><em><strong>One Lonely Fish<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (a counting book with bite) was written by Andy Mansfield and illustrated by both Thomas Flintham and Andy Mansfield.\u00a0 It is a counting book that is cumulative; with each turn of the page we see another fish.\u00a0 But each fish is bigger than its predecessor!\u00a0 Hmmmm&#8230;this means trouble.\u00a0 Eventually we reach the 10th fish and he is BIG enough to swallow all 9 of his predecessors in one big gulp!\u00a0 Visually interesting with a lift-the-flap feel to it, this book&#8217;s surprise ending does not disappoint!<\/p>\n<h2>Flannel Board We Shared<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15505 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/Fish-7-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/Fish-7-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2020\/01\/Fish-7.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>5 BIG FISH<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>5 big fish swimming in the sea (make swimming motions with arms)<br \/>\n5 big fish having fun and feeling FREE!
