<\/p>\nLast Saturday we read some great stories about cats AND helped find a missing kitty named Tippy Toes. We also acted out a story about a dog and a cat who were best friends.\u00a0\u00a0Here are the books, songs, flannel board, mini play, action rhymes and video we shared.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In Sam Lloyd’s Mr. Pusskins<\/strong><\/em> we are introduced to a very unhappy cat!\u00a0 His owner Emily loves him very much but he could care less – “she bored his whiskers right off!” Inevitably he escapes for a more exciting life.\u00a0 At first he has loads of fun making a ruckus and hanging out with a “pesky cat gang” but that doesn’t last.\u00a0 It starts to get cold outside and Mr. Pusskins finds himself hungry and tired.\u00a0 His cat friends eventually ignore him and he begins to long for someone to brush his fur and feed him and tell him how WONDERFUL he is. This is really the story of a cat who learns to appreciate the love of a dear, sweet girl and realizes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. A read aloud filled with various emotions and a lesson in being thankful.<\/p>\n They All Saw a Cat<\/strong><\/em> by Brendan Wenzel shows how different creatures see a cat!\u00a0 Its all about perspective!\u00a0 A flea sees a cat from a much different vantage point than a mouse, than a person, than a snake.<\/p>\n \u201cThe cat walked through the world, with its whiskers, ears, and paws …\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n What do you think when you see a cat?\u00a0 A little lion?\u00a0 A sweet, cuddly pet?\u00a0 A predator?\u00a0 A “scaredy” cat?\u00a0 It all depends on your prespective.\u00a0 This is a deceptively simple picture book that helps children develop critical thinking skills.<\/p>\n MR. DOG AND MRS.CAT<\/strong><\/p>\n (2 children from the audience offered to help me tell this story while everyone else provided support during the chorus.\u00a0 The hats were their costumes!)<\/p>\n This\u00a0is Mr. Dog\u00a0 and he lives in a little house over here. \n\u201cOh, Mrs. Cat\u00a0must not be home,\u201d said Mr. Dog.
\nI think I\u2019ll go back home.

\nHe opened the door and went in and closed the door.\u00a0<\/span>
\nBut he was so tired that he had to lie down and take a nap.

\nThen it was time for Mrs. Cat\u00a0to go home. So they opened the door and came out.
\nMr. Dog\u00a0waved as Mrs. Cat went up the hill and down the hill and up the hill and down the hill and up the hill and down the hill until she came to her house.\u00a0<\/span>
