As I went to post the storytime I shared this week, I realized I had forgotten to post the last one I did at the Library!\u00a0 So this week will be a preschool-storytime twofer!<\/p>\n

Since it was around Halloween-time, I decided to do not scary stories, but stories about being scared.\u00a0 It’s an important feeling for little ones (and grownups!) to work through, and sometimes books can help teach techniques for dealing with fear and having courage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Flannelboard Story<\/h2>\n

We shared the story of\u00a0The Fearsome Beast<\/u> with\u00a0story and template taken from\u00a0Judy Sierra\u2019s Flannel Board Storytelling Book<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\"\"\u00a0\u00a0\"\"\"\" \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

When Caterpillar finds Rabbit’s log house empty, he decides to play a trick on Rabbit.\u00a0 Caterpillar hides in the log, and when Rabbit asks who’s there, Caterpillar responds:<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a great warrior, son of the long one.
\nI crush the rhinoceros to the earth,
\nand I make dust of the elephant.
\nI am invincible!\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, no one wants to tangle with whoever is in the log \u2013 certainly not rhino or elephant – and it\u2019s not until Frog comes along that Caterpillar\u2019s jig is up.<\/p>\n
