Using animals, shapes and lots of creative wordplay, Neal takes the names of shapes and turns them into puns&#8211; two giraffes plus a rectangle become a NECK-tangle, and two kittens plus a circle become a PURRR-cle!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1622514\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.btol.com\/ContentCafe\/Jacket.aspx?UserID=ContentCafeClient&amp;Password=Client&amp;Return=T&amp;Type=L&amp;Value=1499803311\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I love the bright colors and contrasts in <a href=\"https:\/\/pasadena.iii.com\/iii\/encore\/record\/C__Rb1622514\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jane Foster&#8217;s Stripy Tiger Pattern Book<\/a>. It combines shape recognition with pattern recognition for a good introduction to both for babies and toddlers.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 class=\"font-headlines\">Flannel Boards We Shared<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Shapes at the Playground<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For this one, I tell everyone that all the little shapes were playing on the slide at the playground, and when they get to the bottom, they have to find their parents. The triangle goes up the slide and down the slide, and then goes to the rectangle&#8211;is this her mommy? Is the square her mommy? No, the big triangle is her mommy!
