For today’s storytime we learned about parts of the body. I asked each toddler to point to different parts of a teddy bear’s body on their way in. So they were already practicing the words for ears, eyes, nose, arms, feet, head, etc. even before storytime started!<\/p>\n

Whose Toes Are Those?<\/a> by Sally Symes and illustrated by Nick Sharratt is a fun lift-the-flap guessing book that invites kids to guess the animal by its body parts.<\/p>\n

Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone?

\nWith his ears cut short and his tail cut long
\nOh where, oh where can he be?<\/p>\n

Each time we sing the song, I remove one shape to see if my dog is hiding behind it. We compare the animal’s body to the clues in the song. I also prompt the group to sing the words “ears” and “tail” instead of singing them myself.<\/p>\n
