Books We Read<\/h1>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Feathers for Lunch<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Lois Ehlert follows a sneaky cat who is\u00a0bored with his usual canned cat food.\u00a0 He is on the hunt for\u00a0something “wild” to eat.\u00a0 We follow him as he tries to catch different birds but\u00a0only ends up with “feathers for lunch” as they all fly away in the nick of time!\u00a0 Suspenseful, colorful, funny and educational – this picture book is a crowd pleaser.\u00a0\u00a0At the end of the book you will find factual information about all of the birds who appear on its pages.<\/p>\n

Birds<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>written by Kevin Henkes and illustrated by Laura Dronzel is a striking look at the “visuals” birds make at rest and in motion.\u00a0 Each page surprises the reader with its beautiful illustrations and unique take on the life of birds in the wild.\u00a0The use of symbolism and metaphor is a great takeaway for adults as well.<\/p>\n

Toni Yuly’s Early Bird<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>is perfect for infants, toddlers and older preschoolers.\u00a0 The text is simple and the illustrations bold, large and colorful.\u00a0 If you\u00a0hadn’t\u00a0already guessed, it’s\u00a0all about the early bird who catches the worm!<\/p>\n

Bluebird, Where are YOU?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Say:\u00a0 “My little bluebird loves to hide.\u00a0 I think he’s hiding behind one of these egg, but he won’t come out.”<\/p>\n

Ask the children:\u00a0 “Can you help me find him?”<\/p>\n

“Let’s say it together!\u00a0 Bluebird where are you?\u00a0 Are you behind the ______ egg?”<\/p>\n

(orange, purple, pink, light yellow…)<\/p>\n

Continue asking the question until you finally find the bluebird behind the last egg on the board!<\/p>\n
