Our summer session of\u00a0Infant Storytime is underway.\u00a0 Each week\u00a0you\u2019ll find\u00a0a blog post that\u00a0covers the books, rhymes, songs, tickle, bounces, flannel stories, fingerplays and puppets we shared.\u00a0 I also\u00a0throw in some\u00a0information\u00a0about the benefits of reading, singing and talking to your baby!<\/p>\n

For our second storytime of the session we enjoyed reading and singing about\u00a0Zoo animals!\u00a0\u00a0Below you\u2019ll find a record\u00a0of everything we shared!<\/p>\n

BOOKS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

Peek-a-Zoo<\/strong><\/a> is a colorful, boldly illustrated picture book written by Marie Torres Cimarusti and illustrated by Stephanie Peterson.\u00a0 Each page offers a chance to play\u00a0peek-a-boo with a different zoo animal!\u00a0 Lift the flap and your baby discovers the sounds each\u00a0animal makes.\u00a0\u00a0 The book offers many opportunities to interact and talk to your baby (great for emergent literacy development).<\/p>\n

Dear Zoo<\/strong><\/a> by Rod Campbell is a\u00a0lift-the-flap and pop-up book with a twist.\u00a0 Someone writes a letter to the zoo asking for a pet but it seems every “pet” the zoo sends\u00a0is either too fierce, too loud, too scary, too tall…<\/em>you get the picture!\u00a0 All of those “wild” animals were quickly shipped\u00a0back to the zoo.\u00a0 However, the book has a happy ending.\u00a0 The\u00a0zoo folks think long and hard and finally send over the perfect house pet – a dog!<\/p>\n
