We had a blast reading stories about\u00a0riding bicycles\u00a0during our\u00a0Preschool Storytime!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Here are the books, songs, flannel board,\u00a0action rhymes and video we shared.<\/p>\n

Books We Read<\/h1>\n

Duck on a Bike<\/em> <\/strong>by David Shannon tells the story of a Duck who inspires all his fellow\u00a0farm animals to ride a bike!\u00a0 Well they don’t really buy into his enthusiasm for bike riding until they get a chance to see what it’s like firsthand!\u00a0 How did they get a hold of so many bikes?\u00a0 You’ll have to read the story to find out!<\/p>\n

Everyone knows part of learning to ride a bike is learning how to STOP!\u00a0 In The Best Bike Ride Ever<\/em> <\/strong>authors James Proimos and Johanna Wright introduce us to Bonnie – a young girl who gets her very first bike!\u00a0\u00a0She’s so excited that she hops right on even though she hasn’t learned the proper mechanics of using the brakes.\u00a0\u00a0Bonnie takes a wild ride downhill, over mountains, to the top of the Statue of Liberty, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon – you get the picture.\u00a0 What finally stops her?\u00a0 A toy truck on the road and OOF!\u00a0 She falls.\u00a0 Back to the drawing board as her parents comfort her and show her how to use the brakes.\u00a0 Then it’s ride, ride, ride until she starts thinking of her next dream – getting a pony.<\/p>\n

New Red Bike<\/strong><\/em>! by James E. Ransome shows us Tom riding his new, red bike to his friend Sam’s house.\u00a0 He knocks on Sam’s door but there’s no answer.\u00a0 When he turns around – his bike is missing!\u00a0 Where is it?\u00a0 Tom looks everywhere until he finally sees Sam riding toward him.\u00a0 Sam apologizes for taking Tom’s bike and they both decide that sharing is the best way for both of them to enjoy riding UNTIL Tom gets his very own bike from his mom and dad.\u00a0 Now they can ride their bikes together!<\/p>\n

\nThe car won’t start so Roxanne decides to take a bicycle…<\/p>\n

Oh no!\u00a0 Something is missing!\u00a0 Can you guess what it is?\u00a0 THE PURPLE BALL – there was no room for the purple ball!<\/p>\n

That’s okay!
\nRoxanne decides to use her skateboard to get to the beach.<\/p>\n

Oh no!\u00a0 Something is missing!\u00a0 Can you guess what it is?\u00a0 THE UMBRELLA!\u00a0– there was no room for the umbrella!<\/p>\n

That’s okay!
\nRoxanne decides to take the bus!\u00a0 The bus will definitely fit everyone and everything!<\/p>\n

Roxanne decides to take her canoe to the beach!<\/p>\n

Oh no!\u00a0 Something is missing!\u00a0 Can you guess what it is?\u00a0 THE BOOK!\u00a0– the book may fall into the water!<\/p>\n

Roxanne decides to take the next best thing!\u00a0 A hot air balloon!<\/p>\n

Oh no!\u00a0 Something is missing!\u00a0 Can you guess what it is?\u00a0 THE BABY! – the baby was too scared to ride in the hot air balloon!<\/p>\n

That’s okay!<\/p>\n

Roxanne had one more thing up her sleeve!\u00a0 She finally loaded everything onto a cart and pulled out her friendly horse.<\/p>\n

The friendly horse pulled the cart (and everyone and everything in it) ALL the way to the beach where everyone enjoyed\u00a0a fun and beautiful day!<\/p>\n
