Sorry I couldn’t get this up on the blog til today. \u00a0Yesterday’s Toddler Storytime was all about Naptime! \u00a0We talked about the letter N:<\/p>\n

\"N<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

First we read Grump<\/a> by Janet S. Wong and illustrated by John Wallace. \u00a0It’s a story about the normal grumpiness that sometimes builds up after a long day of cleaning messes, feeding, playing with and caring for a small child… But a nap can really help to make all the grumpiness go away!\u00a0

Later we read\u00a0When My Baby Dreams<\/a>\u00a0by Adele Enersen — Remember how babies and toddlers like looking at photographs of babies? \u00a0This is a book of the photos the author created with her baby whenever her baby napped. \u00a0Yes–every day the author created a cute photo picture using her sleeping baby… When most of us would be washing dishes or taking a shower! \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0Don’t feel bad. \u00a0We can’t all be insanely productive on four hours of sleep. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

We sang the song “Ten in the Bed” with a felt board. \u00a0It goes like this:<\/p>\n

There were ten in the bed, and the little one said<\/p>\n

“Roll over! \u00a0Roll over!”<\/p>\n

So they all rolled over, and one fell out!<\/p>\n

There were nine in the bed…. etc. until there is only the “little one” who says, “Goodnight!”<\/p>\n

We learned a new song about going to the moon, just to keep to the nighttime theme, but also the “dream” theme:<\/p>\n

If you want to take a trip, climb aboard my rocketship!<\/p>\n

There was another new song we learned about birdies in a nest (another word that starts with “N”!):<\/p>\n

Way up in the sky the little birds fly<\/p>\n

Way down in the nest the little birds rest<\/p>\n

With a wing on the left and a wing on the right<\/p>\n

The little birds sleep all through the night<\/p>\n

Shhhh—THEY’RE SLEEPING!<\/p>\n

The bright sun comes out, the dew falls away<\/p>\n

“Good morning! Good morning!” the little birds say<\/p>\n

Finally, we finished off with a great video that had everybody laughing! \u00a0We watched Ricky Gervais sing a very silly bedtime song to Elmo that completely failed to coax him to sleep. \u00a0You can check this DVD out: It’s called Singing With the Stars<\/a> and we have it at Central Library.<\/p>\n
