For our\u00a0third storytime of the winter\u00a0session\u00a0we read stories about BIRDS!\u00a0 Stella, our library “baby bird” helped us flap, tweet and sing our way through toddler storytime\u00a0this morning!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

AND – we found a\u00a0nest!\u00a0 By the time we finished storytime,\u00a0we had a nest of baby blue birds.\u00a0 Take a look at the photo below:<\/span><\/p>\n

What follows are\u00a0the books, rhymes, songs, finger\u00a0plays and flannel board we shared.<\/span><\/p>\n

BOOKS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

\"\" \"\"Bi<\/p>\n

Birds<\/strong><\/em> by Kevin Henkes and illustrated by Laura Dronzek,\u00a0is a picture book with beautiful visuals and minimal words.\u00a0 The story is full of\u00a0different\u00a0birds and bird behavior with lots of interesting twists and turns in the text.\u00a0 It also\u00a0seamlessly introduces\u00a0concepts such as\u00a0counting, colors and shapes.\u00a0 This is one of my personal favorites.<\/p>\n

In Lucy Cousin\u2019s picture book, Hooray for Birds!<\/strong><\/em> we see\u00a0an array of beautifully illustrated birds.\u00a0 There is\u00a0a\u00a0rooster,\u00a0a woodpecker,\u00a0a starling,\u00a0a flamingo, a\u00a0swan \u2013 the list goes on and on!\u00a0 The simple text and oversized, bold, colorful drawings engage and delight infants and toddlers while bringing these birds to life!\u00a0\u00a0This is a great read aloud or lap sit book.<\/p>\n

4 little birds happy to be alive, found a yellow one and then there were 5<\/p>\n

5 little birds happy as can be, singing beautiful songs just for you and me!<\/p>\n
