For our\u00a0third\u00a0storytime of the winter\u00a0session\u00a0we read stories about BIRDS!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Stella, our\u00a0library “baby bird”helped us flap, tweet and sing songs throughout the morning.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

AND we even found a nest with eggs that were almost ready to\u00a0hatch!\u00a0 By the end of our storytime those eggs turned into some very hungry baby bluebirds.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Never a dull moment at library storytime!\u00a0\u00a0Below are the books, rhymes, songs, tickle, bounces, flannel and finger puppet rhymes we shared.<\/span><\/p>\n

BOOKS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

In Lucy Cousin’s picture book, Hooray for Birds!<\/strong><\/em> we see\u00a0an array of beautifully illustrated birds.\u00a0 There is\u00a0a\u00a0rooster,\u00a0a woodpecker,\u00a0a starling,\u00a0a flamingo, a\u00a0swan – the list goes on and on!\u00a0 The simple text and oversized, bold, colorful drawings engage and delight infants and toddlers and brings these birds to life.\u00a0 This is a great read aloud or lap sit book.<\/p>\n

Baby Bird <\/strong><\/em>written by Joyce Dunbar and illustrated by Russell Ayto is the perfect book for infants.\u00a0 We are introduced to a baby bird who desperately wants to leave the nest and fly.\u00a0 He goes to the edge of the nest and “flap, flap…flap…”\u00a0– HE FALLS TO THE GROUND!\u00a0 Oh no!\u00a0 The remainder of the book has the baby bird running into all sorts of creatures – a bee, frog, cat and dog but he is able to dodge all of them to give flying one more try.\u00a0 Does he make it?\u00a0 You’ll need to read\u00a0the book to find out. (Hint:\u00a0 It’s a happy ending!)<\/p>\n
