But I have to admit I need to modify the way I read it if I use this book in the future. In it, a dragon parent is reading a long story (that’s the problem I was having) and modifying it a little to encourage baby dragon Cedric to go to bed, eventually falling asleep herself. Cedric has a tantrum and damages the book. It was cute but some people didn’t stick around for the ending. In hindsight, I probably should have read Prince & Knight instead.

Flannel Boards We Shared

Five Brave Knights

Five brave knights, here to save the day!
Along came a dragon, and carried one away.

(Continue counting down until there are no more knights)

No brave knights here to save the day.
They’re all in the castle, and there they will stay!

(Source: http://readrhymesing.blogspot.com/2015/10/flannel-friday-royal-flannel-board.html)

Scarf Songs and Rhymes

We are Dragons

We are dragons
We have wings (wave scarf like wings)
We can fly and do dragon things

We can breathe fire (hold scarf to your face and blow!)
Swish our long tails (wave scarf)
Travel for miles without leaving trails!

Roaring, soaring dragons fly (dance around and wave scarf)
And now it’s time for dragons to say goodbye.

One Bright Scarf

One bright scarf waiting for the wind to blow,
Toss it up high and wave it down low
Wiggle it fast and wiggle it slow
Hey!
