WE read some great stories about chickens in weird places and just plain WEIRD chickens!\u00a0\u00a0Sort of a twist on the chicken at\u00a0the farm stories!<\/p>\n

In Chicken Story Time<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>by Sandy Asher, we find out what happens when a few chickens, and a few more chickens, and a few more chickens wander into the library for storytime!\u00a0 A funny, tongue-in-cheek look at storytime from the perspective of a librarian at her wit’s end, some eager children and about 100 chickens.<\/p>\n

First the Egg<\/em> <\/strong><\/a>by Laura Vaccaro Seeger is a beautifully illustrated, cut out book that teaches children a bit of science about what comes first.\u00a0 There is the tadpole then the frog, the seed than the flower, the caterpillar than the butterfly and so on.\u00a0 But\u00a0with the chicken, is it the chicken than the egg?\u00a0 Or the egg than the chicken?\u00a0\u00a0A play on words leads to lots of learning and a bit of early critical thinking.<\/p>\n

Charlie Chick<\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Nick Denchfield and Ant Parker is a funny pop up book that explores Charlie’s love for food!\u00a0 We added this one for the wee babies that slipped into preschool storytime!<\/p>\n

Who owns the scraps of paper blown by the wind?\u00a0 Is it the chicken who found the paper?\u00a0 The fish who cut the\u00a0paper into scraps?\u00a0 The bird who made the paper?\u00a0 The snail who\u00a0shaped the wood?\u00a0\u00a0Or the frog who found the tree?\u00a0\u00a0Hmmmm…actually, it’s none of those creatures.\u00a0 The paper belongs to the wind ~\u00a0Whoosh!<\/p>\n
