Apples"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apples seem to cause all sorts of problems in today&#8217;s stories.\u00a0 How could that be?\u00a0 Well let&#8217;s start with Ragnhild\u00a0Scamell&#8217;s picture book, <strong>OUCH!\u00a0<\/strong> Imagine you&#8217;re a hedgehog &#8211; you create the perfect nest underneath an apple tree, you step outside for a moment and PLOP, an apple falls right onto your back and stays stuck in your pointy quills.\u00a0 Now you&#8217;re TOO BIG\u00a0to get into your perfect nest!\u00a0 A humorous romp as hedgehog attempts to get rid of some excess baggage!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/OUCH.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"OUCH!\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/OUCH.jpg\" width=\"230\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/new-house-for-mouse.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1100\" alt=\"new house for mouse\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/new-house-for-mouse-266x300.jpg\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/new-house-for-mouse-266x300.jpg 266w, http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/new-house-for-mouse.jpg 461w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 266px) 100vw, 266px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In <strong>A New House for Mouse by <\/strong>Petr Horacek<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0a\u00a0\u00a0little mouse finds a delicious, red apple, but it doesn&#8217;t fit in his house.\u00a0 Off he goes, seeking a bigger house to accommodate both\u00a0his apple and him.\u00a0\u00a0He\u00a0doesn&#8217;t meet with much luck as mole,\u00a0rabbit and badger turn him down&#8230;bear does offer to share his home but mouse feels a bit threatened by\u00a0that offer.\u00a0 Of course along the way mouse gets hungry and takes little bites of his juicy apple.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a nice\u00a0twist at the end of the story as mouse comes full circle and finds the perfect house.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/Pepo-and-Lolo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"Pepo and Lolo\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2013\/12\/Pepo-and-Lolo.jpg\" width=\"203\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In Pepo and Lolo and the Red Apple<\/strong>, Pepo and Lolo are hungry and they spy a beautiful red apple high, high up in an apple tree.\u00a0 Neither of them can reach the apple, but they figure out a way to solve that problem.\u00a0 Bright,\u00a0bold, simple and satisfying-much like a juicy, red apple!\u00a0 Ana Martin Larranga does a wonderful job with this story &#8211;
