Our summer session of Infant Storytime is underway. Each week you’ll find a blog post that covers the books, rhymes, songs, tickle, bounces, flannel stories, fingerplays and puppets we shared. I also throw in some information about the benefits of reading, singing and talking to your baby!
For our third storytime of the session we enjoyed reading and singing about CATS! Below you’ll find a record of everything we shared! We started by noting that the word CAT begins with the letter C. Than we made the hard C sound together!
BOOKS WE SHARED
Meeow and the Pots and Pans by Sebastien Braun is a colorful picture book about the “kitchen” adventures of a cat named Meeow. Meeow and his friends pull out lots of things from the kitchen cupboard – a colander, pots, pans, spoons! But what are they going to do with them? Form a band of course! What baby hasn’t been fascinated with banging on pots and pans or anything else that makes lots of noise? .
Do Cows Meow? by Salina Yoon is an interactive picture book that allows baby to guess which sound each animal makes. It also offers ample opportunities for your baby to mimic the animals sounds you make as you read the story out loud. Do cows sing? Do cows cuckoo? All I know is cows go . . . MOO! Simple, rhyming text, bold colors and lots of animals – this book has all of the ingredients to keep your baby entertained and engaged.
New Bounce We Shared
Listen to Acka Backa Soda Cracker, a new, rhyming bounce we shared during storytime. This video and others like it can be found at the Jbrary website. Watch the video and try the bounce at home with your baby! It’s a wonderful way to bond and play together.
