Rabbit Pie is an adorable book by Penny Ives, which shares a mama bunny’s recipe for “Rabbit Pie,” a perfect bedtime recipe: take six rabbits, a game of hide-and-seek, a soapy bath and a warm bed, and make sure to sprinkle lots of kisses!

Bunnies by Laura Ellen Anderson offers lots of action prompts to share with a group and get kids to participate by jumping and thumping along.


Puppets

We used puppets to perform the song “Little Bunny Foo Foo”:

Little Bunny Foo Foo

Little bunny Foo Foo
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin’ ’em on the head!
Down came the good fairy
And the good fairy said:
“Little bunny Foo Foo, I don’t wanna see you
Scooping up the field mice and boppin’ ’em on the head!
I’m gonna give you two more chances,
Then I’m gonna turn you into a toad!”
Little bunny Foo Foo
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And boppin’ ’em on the head!
Down came the good fairy

Well, the good fairy was mad now and little bunny Foo Foo had to run away…

My bunny puppet went and hid under the tablecloth, and the fairy left too. So we said, “Come out, Foo Foo! The coast is clear!” And what do you think came out of the tablecloth?

Then we recited the “Here comes a bunny” song (see farther down), a magic spell to turn Foo Foo back into a bunny. 🙂


Flannel Boards

Five little bunnies standing by the door.
One hopped away and then there were four.
Four little bunnies sitting by a tree.
One hopped away and then there were three.
Three little bunnies looking right at you.
One hopped away and then there were two.
Two little bunnies enjoying the sun.
One hopped away and then there was one.
One little bunny, all alone.

Here is a bunny with ears so funny (hold up index and middle fingers for ears)
And here is his hole in the ground (make a circle with the other hand)
At the first sound he hears, he pricks up his ears (extend two fingers)

He stared at the duck. But he made faces at me! (stare, make faces)

Open, shut them (open and close fingers)

Do not let them in! (quickly and abruptly move hands behind your back and smack lips shut)

Video We Shared

We watched a video about bunnies hunting for Easter eggs. I hope nobody minded that. In it, Ruby is hunting for eggs and hoping to win the Chocolate Chicken, and keeps flaunting to Max that she will win it, but Max gets sneaky. Now what will Ruby get for having the most eggs?
