Our wonderful summer session of Infant Storytime ended last Tuesday.  For this eighth and final storytime we read all about babies.  We began with a counting song!

One little, two little, three little babies

Four little, five little, six little babies

Seven little, eight little, nine little babies

10 little babies here!

Fun FACT:  Just a reminder that reading is one of the best things you can do for your baby’s brain development!  Click here for a list of the benefits:Birth to Five

Below you’ll find a record of the books, songs, rhymes and flannel activities we shared.

BOOKS WE SHARED

I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti Shustak is a beautiful book about the unconditional love a parent/caregiver has for baby!  This a great board book for reading aloud or as a lap sit.

There, There by Taro Miura is all about comforting a crying baby.  When baby cries, everyone starts to cry!  First comes the question “What does the animal say?”  There’s a “ribbet, ribbet” a “woof woof” a “cluck, cluck”and a “moo moo” UNTIL baby says “wah wah.” Then everyone says “wah wah” and begins to cry!  Who is there at the end to comfort them all?  Baby, of course!  Baby says the magic words – “there, there.”

A Fun Rhyme You Can Try at Home!

Nursery Rhyme Flannel We Shared

Hush Little Baby

Hush little baby, don’t say a word,
Papa’s gonna buy you a mockingbird.
And if that mockingbird won’t sing,
Papa’s gonna buy you a diamond ring.
And if that diamond ring turns to brass,
Papa’s gonna buy you a looking glass.
And if that looking glass gets broke,
Papa’s gonna buy you a billy goat.
And if that billy goat won’t pull,
Papa’s gonna buy you a cart and bull.
And if that cart and bull turn over,
Papa’s gonna buy you a dog named Rover.
And if that dog named Rover won’t bark,
Papa’s gonna buy you a horse and cart.
And if that horse and cart fall down,
You’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town!

He had ten thousand men;

And when they were down, they were down,
And when they were only halfway up,
They were neither up nor down.
