Last week, twenty second graders met at Pasadena Central Library to answer questions about two books they read this month:

Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business / Junie B. Jones y el negocio del mono

Haunted Castle on Hallow’s Eve / Un castillo embrujado en la noche de Halloween

They each get letter cards with their names on them and giant letters A, B, C, or D. Then scorekeepers, many of whom are older kids in 4th grade or higher, record their answers and tally their scores.

It’s so fun to hear them cheering when they get an answer right:

We also invited the 2nd graders to share their thoughts about the books and draw upon their personal experiences with things like baby siblings!

At the end of the night they got to choose prizes.

We still have some space in the program, so if you have a 2nd grader who would like to join, please contact the Children’s Desk: 626-744-4066 option 4.
