Last night kids answered questions about the book Big Nate Goes for Broke / Nate el grande invencíble by Lincoln Peirce. The questions were much harder this time and fewer kids got the Bonus Round right. That’s good–these kids are so smart they keep pushing us to get tougher!
One of our volunteers couldn’t make it so we had scorekeeping help from library commissioner Victor Gonzalez. He was with us from the time of our very first Lucha Libros, back when our program was twice as long and our attendance was half as big!
And as always, our young volunteers are put to work manning the snack table, prize table, and keeping score. It gives them great experience and they seem to be having a good time helping out. Here’s one of those kids explaining the menu he drew up for the “snack bar”:
We let everyone who comes to the event get one “treat” like graham crackers and one water or juice box, and as much veggies and fruits as they can eat! As a City we strive to promote healthy eating so it’s good to see the kids digging into yummy platters of fruit and vegetables.
After having fun competing and answering their questions, the kids line up for their turn to tell us what they think of the book and the characters, into a microphone for everyone to hear!
