For this week’s Infant Toddler Storytimes we took a walk without ever leaving the Library!

Books We Shared

With our first book for Infant Storytime, we learned about the different ways animals walk in Wiggle Waggle written by Jonathan London, illustrated by Michael Rex.  We then followed Duckie on a colorful walk that ended with a beautiful rainbow in Duckie’s Rainbow by Frances Barry.

In Toddler Storytime, we shared a stroll with a loving father bear and his son in the book On Our Way Home by Sebastien Braun.  We also read Wiggle Waggle in Toddler storytime, but made things a little more lively by actually acting out all the different gaits of the animals featured in the story.

Flannelboard Story

We went walking with a flannelboard based on Sue Williams’s book I Went Walking illustrated by Julie Vivas.

I Went Walking
I Went Walking Flannelboard Cropped

I went walking.  What did I see? (place animal behind the boy)
I saw a black cat looking at me.

Continue with the following animals:
– brown horse
– red cow
– green duck
– pink pig
– yellow dog

You should end up with a parade of animals behind the child.

I went walking and I saw a lot of animals following me!

Nursery Rhyme we Shared in Infant Storytime

For our Nursery Rhyme flannelboard we took a trip up the hill with Jack and Jill.

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down
and broke his crown!
And Jill came tumbling after.

Film We Watched in Toddler Storytime

“Rosie’s Walk” from Chicka Chicka Boom Boom …and lots more learning fun.  Based on the book Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins.

Rosie takes a nice walk around the farm.  But there is a fox following her!  Will she escape him?
