Dogs were the theme of this week’s storytime!

Books We Shared

During infant storytime, we looked everywhere for our favorite single dotted puppy in Where’s Spot? by Eric Hill.  Our second book was a reworking on the classic nursery rhyme 1, 2, buckle my shoe called One, Two That’s My Shoe! by Alison Murray.  In this story, a frisky dog runs off with one shoe belonging to his young friend.  Will she get it back?

The first story we shared in Toddler Storytime, My Dog is the Best by Laurie Ann Tompson, illustrated by Paul Schmid, celebrated all the reasons one young boy loves his very sleepy dog so much.  (This brand new book will be coming soon to the library!)  The next book we read, Stick! by Andy Pritchett, had a much more active dog who wanted to play with a stick.  But will he find someone to play with him?

Flannelboard Story

We played a game of hide-and-seek with a flannelboard version of Where, oh Where has my Little Dog Gone?

Where, Oh Where has my Little Dog Gone?

Start by singing the traditional rhyme:

Where, oh where has my little dog gone?
Where, oh where can he be?
With his ears so short,
and his tail so long.
Where, oh where can he be?

While singing, we hid the dog behind one of the shapes out of sight of the children.  Then we all had to figure out where dog was by naming and lifting each shape!

Nursery Rhyme we Shared in Infant Storytime

For our Nursery Rhyme flannelboard we spent some time with a mouse and a clock.

“Storytime with Spot” from Storytime with Spot

Spot finds a lot of ways to play with books.  But the best way of enjoying them is having Mom read them to him!
