What better way to observe the upcoming Valentine’s Day than with a storytime!

Books We Shared

Animals kiss in so many different ways, and you can see many of them in Mary Murphy’s A Kiss Like This.  Parents and their little ones practiced all of them as we read the story during infant storytime.  Baby Loves Hugs and Kisses in Michael Lawrence’s book — giving and receiving them!  This warm story is lovely because it highlights so many different relationships that are important to baby.  And the illustrations of Baby giving hugs are rather hilarious.

For toddler storytime, we started with a trip to the farm in All Kinds of Kisses by Nancy Tafuri.  We made different animal noises as we saw all kinds of farm animals express their love.   At 10am storytime, we followed this up with a look at all sorts of animal cuddling in The Cuddle Book.  For 11am, we discovered what big sister Minka was making in Mouse’s First Valentine.

Five little valentines were having a race.
The first little valentine was frilly with lace.
The second little valentine had a funny face.
The third little valentine said, “I love you.”
The fourth little valentine said, “I do, too.”
The fifth little valentine was sly as a fox,
He ran fastest to the valentine box.
